2022-09-06 09:05:32 Amy, forgive the critical comments. The heart is right. We all think you are beautiful. I'm sure you know your bunions can be fixed (walk in 8 weeks) for 10-15K, so my guess is your feet will eventually warrant 5 stars someday because your toes, arch, ball, nails, and general appeal are stellar. Once you mend, do yourself a favor and wear flip-flop-like sandals with or without a heal/wedge, wherein your toes are not constrained. It's a woman's best look anyway, especially if she has great feet like you. By the way, excellent job on Leap Year (2010).

The first myth about bunions is that you can reverse a bunion without surgery. It is common for patients come in to the office inquiring about ways to reverse their bunion. There are many over the counter devices that claim to realign the bunion bringing the big toe to a straight position. This is a myth about bunions because a bunion is a deviation of the big toe joint. There is no way to reverse it without performing surgery. The joint must be realigned through surgical correction. A second myth about bunions is that high heels cause bunions. A bunion is caused by your foot type. The shoes you wear and the activities you perform will make it worse but it is caused by heredity. Heredity and genetics play the biggest role. In your family history if somebody has a bunion you are more prone to developing that bunion regardless of the shoes you wear. High heel shoes and pointy-toed shoes do you aggravate the condition and make it worse however it is not the underlying cause. A lot of men develop bunions and yet a lot of men do not wear high heels. |

2023-02-11 15:41:29 Useful info for the bunion heads... Heredity is a predisposition, creates a greater chance. Environment does more than "aggravate" - It aggravates the chance. Most (not all) physical conditions work this way over time. More time also allows for more "environment" or environmental impact. Some really predisposed (rare) can go bad by age 30 or 35, but more commonly happens later 40's or 50s. Perhaps one can delay the issue by not jamming toes into certain heels for too many hours a day. Perhaps some with certain kinds of feet, maybe short toes, can handle more abuse longer and still escape the condition to old age or not at all

2022-10-24 11:02:55 As someone who has a girlfriend who has big genetic bunions from the early 20s, I know that most women do not think about surgery until they have problems or pain from them. Because most do not want to go for cosmetic surgery. I mean, except for bunions, you can see that she takes care of her feet.

2023-01-07 13:57:34 "The rest of her feet are so pretty though!" -- Well, the problem is I don't get that far once something like this hits me across the head. In real life I just look away, actively seek to avoid looking... so I may not be appreciating fine skin, nail 'beds", Wikivein delights, etc. It's just too much, a real bunion, not an imagined or phony one, and I cannot get passed such a level of deformity.
