2016-03-08 22:18:44 I had a really nice Takamine 12-string with internal pickup, until I took it in for a minor repair and an incompetent luthier destroyed it. :(

2016-03-08 22:42:54 The Yamaha 12-string you saw, *no* pickup, but it matched the other Yamaha 6-string (old Japanese-made red or tan label). It was that or take the Tak back with the busted headstock repaired. Dude was trying to use a drill with rasp to polish a very small burr off the G-string tuner. It bound & busted the head right off.
I was heartbroken; I'd been looking at that Takamine for months, saved up & bought it. It's *now* a $1k guitar (but maybe *not* with a repaired neck?), and the Yamaha... isn't. It was a bummer. |
